interesting clip,I believe my sister-law has been using the podcast with her gr 7-8 class. They have been learning about /talking with different native communities across canada. I believe the podcast is very interesting and would be an essencial tool to have in the class.

On-line learning or on-line blogging is really something I don't enjoy, I'm not saying is not a good thing because from what I saw today in class, showed it can be a very power tool of learning. I'm just saying that on-line learning is not for me, I find I don't learn as well. I don't know if its because there is no one on one communication with instructor, because I'v tried doing on-line course before but ended up dropping out. But I do believe that having a computer in class is a good tool to have, especially setting up blogs to communicate with parents.

I think one concern I would have is the type of language/pictures children would produce on the social web. And depending on the age/grade there would be different rules. -Some of which would be respect/you may not believe/ understand what this person is saying but please be respectful of our people's feelings/thoughts. Another is to respect yourself don't post anything that will degrade you ex. pictures of a weekend party. Another is to really think about/and write down what they want to learn/discuss and not to write down silly things. Another wuld be no personal chatting, the list can go on but agian it depends on the age group you work with
Ialso hear from parent(friends) that they like the wiki, she finds it helpful in helping/knowing whats going on in her childs class, I believe this form of communication is good, because I know that there are times teachers/parents need to get in touch with each other and I think this form would be faster
I'v just realized I did my last two class blogs in my student blog is there anyway tocut and paste my last two entries from student to class if so please let me know

I believe some of the challenges our community would face without internet would be entirely up to the agency or person, I can't see business shuting down for this reason, not in our small communities. Yes life is much easier with internet but I believe the economical, social and educational services can survive without it. I've worked in various departments here in my community for the past 25 years and not once have I had to rely on internet(or else because of my iliterancyI would have probably been fired)
I believe my community has changed technologically , for instanace we have the clinic that has the community based blog that informs community of upcomming, and daily events happening in the health center, the community home base area and with mental health, we also now have a community newsletter which goes out montly. We have the RCMP station which can process our criminal records (we don't have to go to Richibucto to obtain them). We now have other resources such as the fisheries and forestry divisions with high tech equipment, no longer do our loggers and fisherman have to work long hrs and with dangerous equipment, we now have blodders, dept finders etc.. We also have the schools that have incorporated the smart board, etc. We have the band office were the finance people do there work on computers and not manually We have welfare, were cheque are processed on computer and the list goes on. Although I believe there is room for improvement, I feel we have come along way and I do beleive we are a strong/intelligent community that willl make that happen.

I think the blog in classrooms is a good tool to have. With all the info. and activiites the children can do with the blog I believe it will be a good motivator and incentive for the children.
sorry I wasn't at class I came by around 6:30pm and the doors were lock, I knocked a few minutes but no one heard me, I hope I didn't miss a lot
